Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the main pillars of Islam. It is obligatory upon every healthy Muslim whose reached puberty. This year, it's observed from the middle of June for a month long. What's so special during this period is you can find more variety of food on the streets sold by many food stall owners.
There are few ways to break the fast. Some choose to enjoy iftar in mosques where meals are usually provided for free. But most of us would rather break the fast at home with family members and friends. Thus, the hunt for food starts at around 3 pm.
The food stalls are lined up in one large area called Ramadan Bazaar and it is very crowded. So prepare for yourself and rest assured, you'd never walk home empty-handed.

Sipitang Town sits on the seaside |
Last Saturday I managed to go to a Ramadan Bazaar at Tamu Gata in Sipitang, Sabah, Malaysia. The small town is located 144 km south of Kota Kinabalu, the state capital. Sipitang is very popular with its famous grilled chicken wings and satay.
Here below is a tiny part of all food you can find in the food bazaar. My favorite is the grilled marinated stingray. Delicious!
